Robin Reserves 2 - Findern FC 2
A friendly match against the newly formed Robin Reserves team. Findern
struggled with attendance again with only eleven players fit at the start of the
match. This was not helped by Yank turning up with a mysterious Marcus Babbel
style viral injury that was so debilitating that he could not contemplate
playing but that had not affected him getting royally pissed at the Derby v
Reading match.
As a result Dave Nelson our erstwhile gaffer and some time goalkeeper was
forced to selecting himself in a probing position as well as playing another
goalkeeper Marcus Johnson on the left wing.
Robin looked like they had planned for a world cup with numerous substitutes
appearing prior to the match, with some having to be sent home as they had
exceeded FIFAS' maximum squad size of thirty two. As a result we nicked Andy
Eley to play for us, fresh from an 'incident' at Blend the night before. Well
done Andy.
The first have was tight with Dobbo missing a couple of chances the most
spectacular a free header from a yard that he headed down in textbook fashion
only to see his effort bounce someway over the bar, endangering passing wild
fowl. Robin took the lead when Eddie palmed one into his own net. Straight after
the restart Dobbo equalised with a stunning effort, that almost made up for his
glaring misses of the past couple of weeks. Findern took the lead (I cant remember
who scored), but the Robin came back and snatched an equaliser with a penalty
with ten minutes to go.
