The Mighty FIndern FC (Sunday)

Football, the world game, a challenge of sporting excellence. Eleven men against eleven giving it their all, a competition of skill and determination beautifully entwined.

That is when we are not playing.

We are in Division One of the Derby Taverners League, these pages shall provide a portal via which you can keep up to date with our latest matches. We are a dedicated and close knit team, with regular training sessions and team meetings, coincidently both of which tend to take place at the Scream nightclub in Derby on a Fri/Sat evening.

We are always interested in signing new players so if you want to play email reverend.repton@btopenworld.com

The team are:

1.    Eddie Repton - Goalkeeper

Eddie is known to be a little eccentric but non the less damn good. His career highlights include having played for a few professional teams, and also having captained the County, forcing a player to go to hospital unconscious after a Schumacher style challenge, throwing the ball in his own net as a protest against the referee, and scoring with his goal kicks, and occasionally having little spats with the opposition.

2.    John Burgess - Full Back / Center Back

John is a tough tackling no nonsense defender (i.e. he can trap a ball further than most of us can kick it) and has the dubious honour of having his jaw broken in a match after a rash challenge. And then in his comeback match he was hit again. John is always there with a laugh and a joke.

3.    Steven Caisley (Mutley) - Center Back / Sweeper

Mutt is the granddaddy of the team, no one actually knows his correct age but it assumed that he is like Yoda in that he has grown wiser (and smaller) only thanks to hundreds of years on the planet. He is a tough tackling and committed defender. He is also currently very tanned.

4.    Chris Lewis - Center Back

Chris is a fantastic played and also very tall, can use both feet and is a calming influence at the back. Chris played for Leeds University and has only just started playing again after traveling in Australia.

5.    Andy Owen - Center Back / Midfield

Mr. Reliable himself, Andy is one of the teams most consistent players. However has taken the career choice of moving to the United States to further his career, you have to question his loyalty to the team.

6. Simon Howell - Centre Back
Simon has very nice hair, and is also a skilful centre half in the Rio Ferdinand mould. Simon however did not cost almost 30 million pounds. Simons career highlights include heading the ball once and also having a rival team shouting "Kill the Spice Boy" as he was running down the wing.1

8. Richard Barker - Forgot
Doesn't turn up any more

9. Marcus 'Yank' Litting - At home watching E4
Marcus is a legend in the annuls of Findern history, what can we say about this man? To start with he once impressed the England assistant boss Steve Maclaren at a home match where he attempted his 'Del Pierro' double step over, but only succeeded in treading on the ball and falling over. Class. Marcus has not played this year after his penis turned septic after the enlargement operation.

10. Simon Price - Centre Midfield
Simon is the boss of midfield, he scores occasionally and is our very own Roy Keane. Mainly in that he is a moaning bastard and is never wrong. Is known to have fantastic spats on the pitch with Dobbo which have lasted for up to half an hour.

11. Stuart King - G'Day
In Australia smuggling drugs.

12. Azza Hurd - Sub
Azza our Mick Quinnesque centre forward. Azza is notorious for his ridiculous shoes and silly haircuts. Was involved in soccer violence during Euro 2000 in Charleoi.

13. Tim Richards
JUDAS

14. Kev Stokes - Left Midfield
Says shag a lot.

15. James 'Twat' Howell - Centre Forward
A legend his boots date from circa 1946 and are rumoured to have been worn by Raich Carter in the FA Cup final that year. James plays upfront and scores now and again. Is most notable for the 'birds in Findern shirts' series created with Dave Nelson.

16. Mark 'Dobbo' Roberts
Dobbo as he is known to our team has made a place in the starting eleven his own. This is a remarkable feat as Dobbo has overcome many hardships to even live in this country. Dobbo came to the UK in the mid 90's as a refugee from near the disputed Kashmir region, his strict Islamic faith has helped him to overcome many of the prejudices that he has faced in Western Society. Well done Dobbo. He also played for Port Vale as a Kid, the first Pakistani to do so.

17. Mark Patterson
Just back from the USA were he has been coaching, so expect the US national team to be a major fucking force in the next ten years or so. Patto looks nothing like Gonch out of Grange Hill

18. Dave Nelson
The gaffer, what can we say. Always pissed but always there. His half time team talks have been known to make grown men cry. Occasionally turns out in Goal and used to play for Forest as a keeper in his youth.
